Greencastle Senior Activity Center Open House

The seniors have been meeting in the Greencastle area for over 40 years. Come check out the Center History on display as well as the daily activities that are offered at the center. WRGG will be broadcasting live from 9am-11am. Those over 60 years young are welcome to join us for lunch if you register by Monday August 8th. Call (717) 597-2020.

Discover and explore the history of Greencastle High Line Train Station. 

We will tour the historic railroad station and there will be a presentation by guest speaker Kevin Talhelm, distant relative of James Talhelm, native of Greencastle and the Engineer of Engine No, 6 on February 9, 1909 when passenger service was ushered in at the High Line.

Artist Studio Open House

Original oil paintings by local and international artists will be available for viewing. A signed print of “Jerome King Playground” will be given away each day to a lucky winner. Artwork by Eliane Ambrose, Fred Tresselt, Deb Kallgren, and Gabriela Kallgren will be on exhibit.

Enjoy the time with friends. Blue Heron will be serving freshly made burgers, reubens , crab cakes and grilled chicken and beef on wick sandwiches. Fresh salads with from scratch dressings and wonderful desserts. The kids will be making snowcones all week. Sweet tea, sparkling lemonade, Blue Heron coffee and coke products. Step out of the heat. 1860 House (air conditioned) and the 1860s German Bank Barn (air conditioned with ADA accessible bathrooms.) Self-guided tours. Special Exhibits: In the Barn’s North Exhibit Bay: Greencastle-Antrim Civil War Collection. South Exhibit Bay: The late Katty Grosh’s collection of Old Home Week ribbons and programs will be displayed. Select artifacts from the Ebbert Spring archeological collection. And…a rare 1850’s Plains rifle & Native American painted Buffalo Robe from Joseph Craig’s Collection. In the Irwin Museum House – Phillip Baer’s grand piano and tuxedo.

James P. Oliver Memorial Bike Race
