Artist Studio Open House

Two divisions: Competitive division with cash prizes, and Fun division with prizes from local businesses. Check-in at noon, bags fly at 1:00. 2 player teams, double elimination, play to 21. This is an outdoor, non-alcoholic event. No rain date.

Boy Scout Troop 99 (Philmont Crew) will offer concessions at the Corn Hole Tournament. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and cold drinks.

Open House at Brown's Mill School 

12:30 pm - 5:00 pm 

Intersection of Angle Rd. and Brown's Mill Road, Kauffman Station 

Free admission, donations much appreciated Brown's Mill School was built in 1836, two years after the Pennsylvania Legislature passed the Free School Act. In 1921 the school closed and stood empty, deteriorating until 1934 when a Memorial Association was formed to restore the building. The Brown's Mill School was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

 In 2002, the non-profit Franklin County Historical Society purchased the Brown's Mill School from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission through the generosity of Thomas G. and Nancy H. Burkey and family. The school is dedicated to the memory of the Honorable Enos H. Horst and Mildred Sheller Horst.

1860 House (air conditioned) and the 1860s German Bank Barn (air conditioned with ADA accessible bathrooms.) Self-guided tours.

Special Exhibits: In the Barn’s North Exhibit Bay: Greencastle-Antrim Civil War Collection. South Exhibit Bay: The late Katty Grosh’s collection of Old Home Week ribbons and programs will be displayed. Select artifacts from the Ebbert Spring archeological collection. And…a rare 1850’s Plains rifle & Native American painted Buffalo Robe from Joseph Craig’s Collection. In the Irwin Museum House – Phillip Baer’s grand piano and tuxedo.

Richmond Ski Lodge - Plaque Dedication

Along Route 75, North of Fort Loudon

(built by his parents Ray and Evelyn  Baumgardner)
